说起甲醇燃料是一种新型燃料，相比较于汽油，它能够提供更强大的动力，同时其自身具有较强的抗氧力，价格也相对便宜。那么甲醇通常被使用在哪些地方呢?下面甲醇燃料是一种重要的有机化工原料，主要用于生产甲醛，消耗量要占到甲酵总产量的一半，甲醛则是生产各种合成树脂不可少的原料。用甲醇作甲基化试剂可生产丙烯酸甲酯、对苯二甲酸二甲酯、甲胺、甲基苯胺、甲烷氯化物等;甲酵羰基化可生产醋酸、醋酐、甲酸甲酯等重要有机合成中间体，它们是制造各种染料、药品、农药、炸药、香料、喷漆的原料，陕西甲醇还是一种重要的有机溶剂，其溶解性能优于乙醇，可用于调制油漆。一些无机盐如碘化钠、氯化钙、硝酸铵、硫酸铜、硝酸银、氯化铵、氯化钠都或多或少地能溶于甲醇。作为一种良好的萃取剂，甲醇在分析化学中可用于一些物质的分离，还用于检验和测定硼。

甲醇还是一种优良燃料可作能源。在汽车燃油中可直接添加百分之三到百分之五的甲酵，目前直接将甲醇当燃料已引起世界各国的兴邀，它已被某些发电站作燃料。1985年5月加拿大政府曾宣布过一项全国注计划，试验用甲醇做公共汽车和运输卡车的燃料。1987年我国在北京顺义也建成投产首座年产万吨的甲醇汽油厂，甲醇汽油由百分之五十的汽油、百分之四十的甲醇和百分之十的添加剂组成。前些年我国汽车用“高比例甲醇汽油”的研制和应用也取得成果，并通过鉴定。广西甲醇批发认为，使用这种燃料汽车发动机无需改装，燃料辛烷值高，造成空气污染远比柴油、汽油要小，该项科技成果对缓解我国燃油短缺，促进煤炭深加工和环境保护有重要意义。
